A note from the editor
By Clodagh Meaney
Hello, you are very welcome back to EMPWR.
If you're here for the first time, my name is Clodagh Meaney and I am the editor and founder of EMPWR. I set up the publication in May 2018, and since then we have been (sporadically) publishing empowering news, stories and content.
Originally, I had a vague idea about what I wanted EMPWR to be. I wanted to create a platform for marganilised voices, people who don't see their lives or interests reflected in traditional media. I wanted to create a safe-space for people to raise their voices, share their art and create content surrounding their interests.
While our core values of to empower and to inform remain - our editorial approach has changed as experience and time has helped me to fine tune what the function of the site is to be.
Previously, we had Video, Visual, Audio and Literary sections, they're now housed under the umbrella category of Arts and Literary, with additional subcategories. We've added a section dedicated to News. Not just any news, but the news we feel our empowered readers want to engage with. Another section we've added is Features. We've expanded this section by categorising things such as Book Club, Health, Sustainability and Fashion. As the content on site grows, this shall too.
Finally, you may have noticed our branding has changed colour too. We've updated our logos from a hot-pink to a more relaxing mellow yellow.
I'm delighted to welcome back some of our previous contributors, as well as some brand new voices. If you're interested in contributing to EMPWR then we'd love to hear from you. You can get in touch via e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
I hope you enjoy the new-look website as well as the content we've got coming in the near future.
