Aimée, Soulé, Fia Moon, Lyra and more to perform live for televised fundraiser

Songs From An Empty Room will be live from venues across the country this weekend.

Aimeé, Soulé, Fia Moon, and Lyra are among acts performing this weekend as part of Songs From An Empty Room.

The show will see a host of Irish acts take to the stage at venues across the country, and will support two fantastic live events industry initiatives; Minding Creative Minds and the Association of Irish Stage Technicians (AIST) Hardship Fund.

Broadcasting on television and radio artists will be live from much-missed venues such as: The Olympia Theatre, Dublin; Cyprus Avenue, Cork; Dolans, Limerick; INEC, Killarney and Róisín Dubh in Galway.

Lisa McHugh, Denise Chaila, Sorcha Richardson and Eve Belle will also perform on the night, alongside The Blizzards, The Coronas, Picture This and The Academic.

The show, hosted by Jenny Greene and Eoghan McDermott, will feature a special performance from Danny O'Reilly of The Coronas alongside Noel Hogan of The Cranberries.

James Vincent McMorrow, Gavin James, Jafaris, and The Stunning will join Mother DJs on the night.

In a statement, the event organisers expressed their hopes to raise spirits amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Live events continue through wars, they raise money for famine, they raise the spirits of a nation in times of need and provide a focus in times of celebration."

"Never, in the history of staging live performances and events, has there been such a sudden and total cessation of work in Ireland, as happened on the 12th of March 2020," the statement said.

"Currently, throughout the country, festival fields and event sites are deserted, theatre seats await an audience and music venues are empty."

"We hope that in sitting rooms around the country, audiences will tune in and become the support act that the live events industry needs right now."

Songs From An Empty Room will raise vital funds for musicians and stage crew.

"There are huge challenges facing the live events industry due to the cancellation and postponement of all mass gatherings, festivals, concerts, theatrical productions, sports events, trade shows and community gatherings."

"Ireland’s event businesses and crews have lost their income, with no current roadmap to recovery as long as COVID-19 continues to present a significant public health risk."

Songs From An Empty Room will be broadcast on RTÉ2, RTÉ 2FM, and the RTÉ Player from 8.30pm, this Saturday July 25th.
