Body found in search for missing Glee actress Naya Rivera
The 33-year-old went missing from California's Lake Piru last week.
A body has been found in the search for missing Glee actress Naya Rivera.
The 33-year-old went missing from California's Lake Piru last Wednesday, July 8th.
Taking to Twitter, the police department in charge of the search revealed a body has been found today during the search.
"A body has been found at Lake Piru this morning. The recovery is in progress," they said.
"A news conference will take place 2pm at the lake."
A huge search operation ensued after Ventura County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a toddler alone on a rented boat.
It is believed she went swimming with her four-year-old son, Josey, who managed to return to the vessel, but she did not.
Rivera's young son was wearing a life jacket, but it is not believed that she was not as a jacket was found aboard their boat.
Just one day after the star went missing, Police revealed that they believed she may have drowned, and changed a search and rescue mission to a recovery mission.
“The latest is that we’re switching efforts into a search and recovery operation," Officer Chris Dyer of Ventura County Police said.
"That doesn’t change anything in the efforts that we’re putting forth to locate her but it changes the title, in a sense."
"We’re presuming that an accident happened, we’re presuming that she drowned in the lake."
Naya Rivera is best known for her role in Glee as cheerleader Santana Lopez.
In 2014 she married actor Ryan Dorsey, and the pair welcomed their son Josey Hollis the following year.
The pair filed for divorce after two years of marriage with Rivera later calling it off before finally separating in 2018.
