Femicide: 57-year-old Mother killed at her home in Hartstown by a male known to her
50 percent of women murdered in Ireland are killed by a partner or ex partner.

A 57-year-old woman was murdered in Hartstown, Co. Dublin following an attack in her home on Sunday morning.
The woman, named locally as Jean Eagers, was a mother of two who worked in Marks and Spencers in Blanchardstown.
It has been reported that the woman was attacked with a samurai sword and other weapons at around 11.30am yesterday morning.
A third person was believed to be in the home at the time, was a witness to at least part of the attack, fled to a neighbours house to seek help.
Gardaí then forced their way into the home where a man was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
In Ireland, Femicide statistics show that 50 percent of women are murdered by a partner or an ex partner.
In cases where a woman is murdered by a male relative, 80 percent of the time the perpetrator is a son.
