Councillor Hazel Chu has become the 353rd Lord Mayor of Dublin, she is only the 9th woman in History and the first Person of Colour to take on the role.
Elected at the Mansion House in Dublin this evening, she received 43 votes, with Fine Gael councillor, Anne Feeney receiving nine votes.
She is preceded by Fianna Fail councillor Tom Brabazon.
The position of Mayor of Dublin was created in 1229, with the role being elevated to Lord Mayor in 1665.
In May 2019 Chu was the first Irish person of Chinese decent to be elected to political office in Ireland, when she was elected as a Dublin City Councillor.
She is also currently the chairperson of the Green Party after being assigned to the role in December last year.
